Peter Giannantonio Obituary

Peter Giannantonio, 88, of Manahawkin, New Jersey, formerly of Palisades Park, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on April 24th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 29th, 1935, in Englewood, New Jersey to his Italian immigrant parents, Nicholas and Filomena Giannantonio (nee Albanese), Peter was a graduate of Pal Park High School and served in the US Army as a cook during the Korean War. He is best known for his love of family and good food which led to a 44-year career in the, A&P which progressed to store manager. He we will be most remembered for his Sunday Sauce, his passion for American history and the days spent fishing with his sons.

Loving husband to his wife Carol Ann (nee Lane-Garcia) Giannantonio and father to his 5 children, Phyllis Zuppe and husband Tom, Theresa LaSpina and husband Sal, Nick Giannantonio and wife Donna, Pete Giannantonio Jr. and wife Janice, Paul Giannantonio, and 6 stepchildren, Joseph Garcia and wife Jackie, Sally Leara and husband John, Kevin Garcia and wife Patty, Darlene Nolan, Tommy Garcia and wife Jacqui, Tracey Murray and husband Marty. Together Peter and Carol have been blessed with 26 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, New Jersey.  A Graveside Service will take place on Monday, April 29, 2024, 10:45 am, at Garden of Memories Mausoleum, 300 Soldier Hill Road, Washington Twsp., NJ. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
