Richard W Reilly

Every daughter boasts about how wonderful their father was; how impactful he was as a role model, but never could there be a better example than my dad. For the mere fact that my father stepped outside of his traditional role as a “dad” to be there for my daughter when she did not have one. He exuded kindness with every conversation that he had, for he would always offer his sage advice and words of encouragement to everyone he cared for…and he cared for so many. His smile always lit up a room, and his hugs were better than a cozy sweater on a rainy day. Those who knew him were lucky; but for those of us who called him family were truly blessed. Richard Reilly was an extraordinary person, and all our lives are better from having loved him. May memories of him always remain deep in our hearts forever. 

Richard W Reilly – loving husband, father and grandfather left us on Wednesday January 25, 2023. He was born in Jackson Heights, NY to Walter and Anne Reilly. He grew up with his brother Raymond Reilly, and Debbie Malafatopoulos in Forest Hills, NY. Richard worked his way through college and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Boston University. 
He met the love of his life, Adrianne Brevetti in 1964 at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs in Forest Hills, NY. The two went on to marry on February 6, 1965. They welcomed 2 daughters, Kimberly Ann and Jennifer Lynn and eventually settled into a beautiful home in Woodcliff Lake, NJ. Richard was an active member with the Knights of Columbus and loved playing Santa Claus every Christmas at Indian Field in Mahwah, NJ. He was an animal lover, and huge NY Giants fan. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. 
He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren. There will be a visitation from 10am – 12pm on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, at 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff NJ 07481.   A funeral service will immediately follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery & Mausoleum at 225 Ridgedale Road, East Hanover NJ 07936. 
His devoted family will be present and welcome all who loved him. In lieu of flowers donations can be to ASPCA or Knights of Columbus Council #6033
