Andrew Kenneth Molenstra, age 94, went peacefully home to the Lord on Sunday, June 5, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Paterson and lived most of his life in Wyckoff before becoming a resident of Mahwah for 10 years and most recently, relocating to live with his daughter in Montague, NJ. Andrew started each and every day with the same routine, he would go to his room, read the Bible, and spend quiet time with the Lord. Prior to his retirement, he worked in the maintenance department at Hoffman LaRoche in Nutley, NJ. In his spare time, not only did he enjoy spending time with family and friends, but he loved to build model ships and antique model cars. He enjoyed baking and his homemade jams were worth the tasting! Andrew loved a challenge, especially when it came to completing puzzles, the harder the puzzle, the better. And anyone who knew Andrew, knew of his love of photography. Throughout the years, Andrew entered numerous art shows, for which he received many awards and ribbons. He is survived by his loving daughter, Donna de Waal Malefyt and his son, Kenneth Molenstra and his wife, Susan. He was the proud pop-pop to 8 grandchildren; Kenneth (Lisa) and Andrew (Meredith) Molenstra, Nicole (Kyle) Farrier, David (Carrie) and Michael (Robin) de Waal Malefyt, Rebecca (Jarrott) Solich, Daniel (Christine) and Meghan de Waal Malefyt, 15 great grandchildren; Dylan, Kaylee, Rylan, Ella, Austin, Tai, Maya, Isaac, Micah, Drew, Eve, Carter, Owen, Kinsley, and Ethan and 1 great great granddaughter, Winter Rose. Andrew was predeceased by his devoted wife, Marilyn on August 24, 2007, his loving daughter, Jamie Lee on December 12, 2020, and his wonderful son-in-law, Dave de Waal Malefyt on March 29, 2019. Anyone who knew Andrew has been blessed to be a part of his life, for he would always be willing to lend a hand to help anyone, in any way he could. Numerous individuals have benefitted by his generous donations to many charities over the years. In keeping with Andrew’s generous heart and giving nature, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation, 174 Paterson Avenue, Midland Park, NJ 07432 would be greatly appreciated. Although the family is broken hearted, they rejoice in knowing that Andrew has been granted peace eternal and is at rest, holding the hands of his wife and daughter in heaven. In keeping with Andrew’s wishes, all services will be private. Arrangements are under the care of the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ.
