Ann Catherine (Fitzsimmons) Van Wetering, 95, of Midland Park, passed away
peacefully in her home on Saturday, August 30, 2025. She was predeceased by her
beloved husband, Frederick Martin Van Wetering, of 46 years filled with love. Also
predeceased by her parents, Harry S. Fitzsimmons and Pauline (Johns) Fitzsimmons,
and her brother, James Fitzsimmons.
Ann is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen Louise West and Kathleen Ann
Garbaccio and grandchildren, Daniel West, April (Garbaccio) Rehm and her husband,
Brian, Ricky Garbaccio and his wife, Brooke, and great-grandchild, Mason G Rehm.
Also survived by her nieces, Deborah Van Wetering Hayes and her husband James
Hayes, Sandra Van Wetering Jorgensen and her husband, Douglas Jorgensen, and
children Matthew and Dylan Jorgensen as well as her nephew, Russell Van Wetering
and his wife, Noreen, and daughter, Chayse Faith.
Additionally surviving is her brother, Commander Harry S. Fitzsimmons, Jr. and his
children, Robert, William, Thomas and Susan and grandchildren, Steven, Patrick,
Rachel and Justin, as well as her cousins Barbara Joy Weaver and her children and
grandchildren, and Charlotte Gourley and her children and grandchildren.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Ann grew up in Ridgewood, New Jersey, attending
Ridgewood High School and Western Maryland College (McDaniel). Ann worked at The
Federal Reserve Bank of NY. She married Frederick in 1960, residing in Midland Park
where they shared many happy years creating a life together, enjoying their home and
family. She will be deeply missed.
The family will receive friends for a Memorial Gathering to honor Ann
Friday, September 19, 2025, 5 - 8 p.m.
Vander Plaat Funeral Home of Wyckoff, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ.
There will be no burial service at this time.
