Anne (“Dolly”) Tramontozzi, an incredible mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, businesswoman, and advocate for the under-served, passed away suddenly on Sunday evening, December 15, 2024.
Daughter of Carl and Tulia Turi; Loving wife of Danny Tramontozzi (deceased) and Hy Chait (deceased); Loving mother of Diana Belkowski (and husband Anthony), Dan (and wife Kim) and Carl (and wife Amanda). Anne was a powerful bright light and a rock of strength and love for all, who changed countless lives. In addition to her pioneering work of 45 years toward Accessibility on Broadway with Sound Associates Inc., she has also given boundless time, energy, money, and love to so many in the performing arts. Even more important to her, however, is her eternally grateful family, to whom she gave the most incredible childhoods and life-tools that anyone could ever have.
Anne had a love for music and the arts from a very young age. Her favorite childhood memory was about her father, Carl, who would always sing to her every night. Passing away when she was just seven, he inspired her to become a singer and lover of opera and classical music, as well as a devoted ballerina and pianist. She graduated from Juilliard as a concert pianist, but her career was stopped short due to paralysis from porphyria, a rare disease. As she recovered, she met and went on to marry Daniel Tramontozzi, who she cherished and lost in 2012. They had three children together, Diana, Dan, and Carl. She became a regional Director for Snelling & Snelling recruitment agency, as well as the Avon organization, before finding the arts once again -- spearheading the Infrared Division of Sound Associates, helping to give millions of disabled theatre-goers the opportunity to finally experience live performance. Anne had a love for antiques and collectibles, and she and her 2nd husband Hy had a successful antique business in Bogota, NJ, “Legends and Legacies”.
Her children continued her musical legacy: Dan & Diana also blossomed from Juilliard as concert pianists. Both are accomplished composers and musicians, and their show “Rocket Boys”, with Carl co-writing book, has been produced throughout the country. Carl grew up as a professional musical actor and graduated from the Royal Academy in London. Diana has additionally been a Director of Sacred Music for decades at prominent NJ parishes. Dan is an accomplished Audio Engineer on Broadway, and currently serving as Show Captain at Masque Sound; and Carl continued Anne’s legacy of work with Sound Associates before going on to Direct theatre with Actors Technique NY and now Producing musicals for Broadway. Anne's first grandson Carlin spent years as an A/V engineer, designing events for many major clients, and is currently Chief Engineer of Post Screening East Coast for Netflix.
Anne cherished any opportunity to be with her family, and especially loved her time in her Barnegat, NJ home with her grandchildren and her 2nd husband, “Grandpa” Hy Chait. Anne’s four precious grandchildren are Carlin, Daniel, Samantha, and Gabriel, and one great-grandchild, Anastasia. These children were her life, with whom she shared many great adventures.
Anne’s strength and determination in recent years certainly earned her the nickname of “Superwoman”. She overcame one obstacle after another with her complicated health profile, but remained vigilant and rebounded time after time. She even danced in front of the tree every Christmas, including 2023. Considering her selfless, loving, and giving spirit, she truly embodied all that is Christmas. We, of course, have never known a world without Anne in it, and that world is surely diminished and darkened by the loss of her great light.
Thank you, Anne/Mom/Grandma, for all you have taught, demonstrated, and exemplified. Thank you for the laughter, the advice, the support, and your relentless belief in all of us. We love you with our entire being and look forward to being with you again someday for new adventures.
