Arthur C Vooys

Arthur C. Vooys “Art”, age 83, of Mahwah, died Friday, February 19, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Art was born in Ramsey, NJ, the 2nd child of Arie and Winnie Vooys.  Art spent his younger years growing up in Ramsey before marrying the love of his life, Joyce and settling in Mahwah, where he has resided for the past 60 years.  Prior to his retirement, Art was a Mason with the Brick Layers Union #4 in Ridgewood.  He was a member of Faith Reformed Church in Midland Park.  One of Art’s greatest joys was spending quality time and making memories with his family.  In his spare time, he would join with his “extended family” volunteering as a fireman with Mahwah Fire Company #4 where he attained the status of Life Member.  Art is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joyce Vooys of Mahwah and his six children; Art and Geri, Ed and Mary, David and Chrissy, Doug and Paul, Sandra and Russell and Jeff.  Broken hearted but enthusiastic to carry on their grandfather’s legacy are his 18 grandchildren; Art, Taylor, Leah, Nancy, Heidi, Eric, Shannon, Elisha, Jason, Colleen, Meredith, Natalie, Olivia, Dakota, Hunter, Caroline, Michael and Gavin and his 6 great grandchildren.

Visiting will be Monday, 10 – 11 AM followed by a Funeral Service at 11 AM at Faith Reformed Church, 95 Prospect Street, Midland Park.  The interment will follow at Redeemer Cemetery, 90 Chapel Road, Mahwah, NJ.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ.  As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Art’s memory may be made to Mahwah Fire Company #4, 50 Fardale Avenue, Mahwah, NJ 07430 or the Mahwah Volunteer Ambulance Corp. #4, P.O.
