Barbara Anne Behrens

Barbara Behrens, 90, of Wyckoff and formerly of Franklin Lakes, entered eternal peace on May 18, 2025. Born in Hackensack, NJ, lived in Hasbrouck Heights before moving to Franklin Lakes 60 years ago.

Barbara attended Corpus Christi grammar school in Hasbrouck Heights and Holy Trinity High School in Hackensack. Barbara and Ernie met in 1963 at the Bergen County Ski club where they maintained many friendships for decades. Skiing, golfing and traveling together was their lifelong love. Barbara taught CCD for over 20 years at the Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. church and received recognition for this at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart. She coordinated the food shelter for the Interreligious Fellowship for the Homeless, assisted with the bridge fundraisers for the Valley Hospital Auxiliary, was co-president of the Ramapo Boosters Association and spent many summers involved with On-Stage theater. The three things that she valued the most were her faith, family and the NY Yankees.

She is survived by her husband Ernest, sons Christopher and his wife Eva, Thomas and his wife Fredrika, Andrew and his wife Krisi and six grandchildren Sasha, Brendan, Michael, Stephanie, Daniel and Max.
She was predeceased by her sister Jeanne and brother Richard.

The family will receive friends on May 23 from 2:00 pm to 4:00pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated May 24, 11:00 am at the Most Blessed Sacrament R.C. church in Franklin Lakes.
Interment will follow at Christ the King cemetery.
