Barbara Joan (Blom) Vriesema

Barbara J. Vriesema (nee Blom), age 83, of Ridgewood, went to be with her Lord peacefully on Friday, January 8, 2021. Born in Paterson and raised in Midland Park, Barbara moved to Ridgewood in 1965 and lived there until October of last year. She was an active member of the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church, where she sung in the choir for 40 years, was a member of the Ruth Circle, the Faith Promise Committee, and helped manage the church prayer chain. Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband Harry in 2012. Surviving are her devoted children; Richard and his wife Kathy, William and his wife Judy, John and his wife Sandi, and Linda and her husband Jack Boonstra. Barbara also leaves her 15 grandchildren; Emily (Chip), Andrew, Allison (Kevin), Michael, Michelle, Jess (Christine), Jacob (Lydia), Kelise (Lek), Kristen (Peter), Jonathan, Matthew (Anna) and Katie Vriesema, and Timothy, Jonathan, and Leah Boonstra, as well as 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Hagedorn. The Vriesema family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, January 12,  5 until 7PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home (www.vpfh.com), 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 13 at 10:30 AM at the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church, 183 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park, NJ. Private interment will follow in the Wyckoff Reformed Church Cemetery.
