Barrett Ladd Obituary

Barrett Dean Ladd, 65, of Wind Gap, PA passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on June 29, 2021. He was a loving father, devoted son, caring sibling and loyal friend who will be kept close in the hearts and minds of all who knew him. Barrett is the son of Joan L. Ladd and the late Donald E. Ladd of Wyckoff and formerly of Ridgewood, NJ. Barrett was born on 27 May 1956 in Ohio.

Since the family moved east a few years later, he grew up in Ridgewood, NJ and graduated from Ridgewood High School.  He was active at Old Paramus Reformed Church Youth Group and Boy Scout Troop 5. Scouting was of great interest, and he earned his way to Philmont Scout Ranch and Explorer Base in New Mexico two years in a row. Bicycling was the lifelong passion of Barrett. Summers in his teen years he went on week-long guided Youth Hostel bike trips. After high school, Barrett attended Bergen Community College part time while he was managing the Fuji Cycle Center in NJ. After attaining ownership of the shop, he moved it off the highway to a safe side street in the borough. He met Carol Farmer of Basking Ridge, NJ and after they married, they ran the shop together. After son Ian William Ladd was born, Barrett sold the shop and took a regional sales position with Klein Bicycle company.  Other sales positions with larger firms followed and he moved to Easton, Pennsylvania continuing in regional sales positions. He married Tara Shahani in 2002. They had a daughter Raven Noir Ladd together. Barrett enjoyed the bicycle business and the sport of cycling. He often encouraged people to “Bike to Work” by doing just that.  He participated in many 100-mile road rides and had a strong interest in mountain biking. He led many area group road and mountain bike rides. He left Trek Bicycle in 2018 but enjoyed a part time position in a cycle and fitness shop.

Barrett is survived by his son, Ian Ladd and daughter-in-law Lara Ladd and twins Norah and Caden Ladd of Stokesdale, NC; daughter Raven Ladd of Nazareth, PA; sister Lauren Ladd Meister of South Mills, NC; brother Evan Ladd of Tampa, FL, his mother, Joan Ladd of Wyckoff, dear companion Jodi Pimentel of Lake Hopatcong, NJ.  A sister, Julia K. Ladd predeceased him.
