Betty P. Brandes, age 86, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Monday, August 30, 2021.
Betty was born on June 15, 1935 in Paterson, daughter of the late Orrie and Trina Borduin. She was a resident of Wyckoff for most of her life.
Betty had a strong Christian upbringing and was an important part of her life. She attended Eastern Christian School and was an active and longtime member of Faith Community Christian Reformed Church. Betty worked along side her husband as the Administrative Assistant in the family business they built together, A&B Kitchens and Baths, until they retired.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years and her best friend, Herman; her devoted children, Roy and his wife Laurie, Ron and his wife Sylvia, Randy and his wife Sam, and Karen and her husband Lou Spano; 11 Grandchildren, Alexandra Brandes, Renee (Craig) Kobovitch, Michael (Dana) Spano, Louis Spano Jr., Kim (Drew) Swallen, Anna (Ryan) Summers, Jason Brandes, Justin Brandes, Chris Brandes, Brett (Joelle) Brandes, and Adriana Brandes; and 6 Great Grandsons, Logan, Jace, Luke, Wesley, Nicholas, and Finn. Betty also leaves her brother Robert Borduin and his wife Shirley.
Betty loved traveling the world with her husband and going on camping and skiing trips with her family. She also loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious Sunday dinners for her family with her specialty being pot roast and gravy with mashed potatoes and her famous chocolate chip cookies. Some of her other favorite hobbies included singing in the church choir, reading, sewing and playing golf. During the winter months, you could find Betty and Herm enjoying their retirement together with many visits from family and friends at their second home in Myrtle Beach.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 am at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Wyckoff Reformed Church Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Betty’s name to the Eastern Christian School Association, 50 Oakwood Avenue, North Haledon or the Christian Health Care Center, 301 Sicomac Avenue, Wyckoff.
