We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Bruce John Potter on January 24th, 2024. He died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.

Bruce was born in New Haven, CT on December 6th, 1945. As a boy he enjoyed all sports especially basketball and was active in the local church. He loved playing at the Yale Equestrian Center, Yale Bowl, and the Owenego.

Graduating from Hillhouse High School in 1963 led him to earn a certificate from Yale Medical Center-School of Radiography in 1965. Later that year he joined the US Navy as a Medic, reaching the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class while serving at Saint Albans Naval Hospital in Queens,NY.

In 1967 Bruce began work at Yale Medical Center as an X-Ray Technologist, eventually becoming Chief Technologist. In 1968 he was recruited to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood,NJ as Technical/Educational Director of Radiology. During this time he was an integral figure in establishing one of the first MRI facilities in the area. By night he obtained a B.S. Following a life threatening illness in 1992, Bruce remained in the medical field and went on to join NY Presbyterian Hospital-Allen Pavilion as Director of Diagnostic Services for nearly two decades.

He retired from NYP in 2014 and had since been enjoying his time with vacationing in Florida, a renewed interest in cars and motorcycling, household improvements & projects, tinkering with tools, and anything else he could invent or find to fix.
