Carol Zammitti

Carol F. Zammitti, age 81, of Paramus, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 26, 2025, surrounded by the comfort and love of her family.

Carol is survived by her loving husband Frank P. Zammitti Jr., her four children Natalie and her husband Robert Shaw, Gregory and his wife Michele Zammitti, Valerie Zammitti, and Jeffrey and his wife Jennifer Zammitti and 10 beloved grandchildren, Thomas, Kayla, Joseph, Karolena, Brayden, Chase, Hayley, Jack, Dean and Autumn. Predeceased by her beloved pets Snowball and Dusty.

Carol was born to Louis and Kathryn Passante and was a proud graduate of Memorial High School in West New York. She continued her education at Montclair State University earning a degree in education, and later completing her master’s plus 30 credits at New York University.

Carol met the love of her life, Frank, on November 8, 1963, at the Point Diner on Bergen Boulevard in Fairview, New Jersey. They were married on April 22, 1967, and shared 62 years of a loving and devoted marriage

Carol began her teaching career at North Bergen High School before pausing her professional life to devote herself to raising her family. She later returned to education and was affectionately known as “Mrs. Z” while serving as a substitute teacher in her hometown of Paramus. She ultimately became a longtime and dedicated teacher with the Fair Lawn Board of Education.

Carol was loving, caring, and deeply devoted to her family. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor and for being a fabulous Italian cook. After retiring, she embraced a more leisurely pace of life, enjoyed traveling, and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and beloved grand-pets, who brought her endless joy.

Friends may visit with the family at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, New Jersey, on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday December 30,2025 at Our Lady of Visitation Church, 234 North Farview Avenue, Paramus, New Jersey, at 11:00 a.m.  Entombment to follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, New Jersey.
