Charles Kiernan Landers, 15, of Franklin Lakes died on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.
He was a sophomore at Ramapo High School where he was an active member of the baseball team. Charlie loved sports, his favorite teams being the Yankees, Knicks and Giants.
On the field he took great pride in being a pitcher and part of the top gun program at Teels in Wyckoff.
Charlie was a caring and compassionate person and loved spending time with his family and friends in particular the family dogs: Treble and Gracie.
Charlie’s courage and perseverance, in the face of his illness was a true testament to his character and made an impact on the community and everyone who knew him.
His wish was to raise awareness around Ewing Sarcoma in search of a cure as well as help those impacted by the disease.
Charlie is survived by his parents Mark and Lisa, his sister Annie and his paternal grandparents John and Jane Landers and maternal grandmother Susan Campbell.
Friends may visit the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM on Thursday at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00am on Friday at the St. Elizabeth’s Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
Entombment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlie’s memory can be made to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
