Charles J. Poggi

Charles Joseph Poggi, a longtime and beloved resident of Wyckoff, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 4, 2025.

He was 66 years old, having been born in Hoboken on July 6, 1958. Charles was the devoted husband of the late Theresa Poggi (née Mulvaney).

For over two decades, Charles was the innovative force behind The Poggi Press, a family-owned company established in 1928, leaving a lasting impact in the Hoboken community. His entrepreneurial spirit then led him to establish Poggi Realty, where his dedication and deep understanding of the community fostered its growth and success. Charles also served with unwavering commitment as a board member who sat on multiple committees for Haven Savings Bank for 35 years, contributing his valuable insights and leadership to the institution. Of all his many accomplishments, nothing brought him more happiness than time spent with his grandchildren, whom he saw as his life’s greatest gift.

Charles was a loving father and cherished grandfather. He is survived by his son, Charles FX Poggi, and his wife Tierney; his daughter, Kaitlyn DeBonis, and her husband Steven; and his three adored grandchildren, Charles J Poggi, Eloise Poggi, and Gabriella DeBonis. He is also survived by his loving mother, Mary Patricia Poggi, and his siblings, Mary Price, Robert F.X. Poggi and Carol Starkweather. In addition, Charles leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the wake to be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff, NJ 07481,from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated in honor of Charles' life on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave, Wyckoff, NJ 07481. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial donations or contributions be made to the Hoboken Shelter.
