Charles Romero

Charles Romero, age 88, died Thursday, December 11, 2025.  Born in Coamo, Puerto Rico, he was raised in Jersey City.  He lived in Guttenberg before moving to Midland Park in 1980, and then to Secaucus in 2016. 

Charles served proudly for 3 years in the US Marine Corps as a corporal.  He started and owned CJR Traffic Services, a freight brokerage company until he retired.  Charles was also an avid sports fan, especially enjoying the NY Jets and Mets.  He also loved being with his family, especially for special occasions and holidays.  He also enjoyed good food and time with friends especially at various local restaurants. 

Charles is survived by his children, Charles Romero Jr. and his wife, Karen of Rockaway, NJ, Karyn Paccione and her husband, John of Smithville, NJ and Steven Romero of Rutherford, NJ.  Also surviving are four grandchildren, John and Michael Paccione and Elaina and Mikaela Romero. Charles was predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Marie in 2014, his parents Carlos and Justina, his brothers: Thomas Burgos and Ricki Burgos and his sister Olga Pellagatti. 

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 14 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481.   

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am on Monday, December 15, at Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect Street, Midland Park, NJ 07432.

Interment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes, NJ.
