Christine “Teena” Glover Grant (79) of Mawhah, NJ, formerly of Stony Point, NY, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2023, after a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on December 25, 1943, in Jersey City, NJ, Teena graduated from Dover High School in Dover, NJ, in 1961. She attended WVU Potomac State College for a year, ultimately obtaining her BS from Dominican College in 2000.
In May 1964 Teena married her life-long love, Ronald (“Ron”) Grant. Teena then began her career in telecom working for Pacific Telephone while Ron was deployed with the US Navy out of San Diego, CA. She then transferred to New York Telephone when the couple moved back east to be closer to family. Ultimately, she retired from Verizon in 1995. Never one to stay idle, Teena expanded her career as a Compensation and Benefits Analyst with Pearson Education in Upper Saddle River, NJ, until her “second” retirement.
Ron and Teena raised their two children, Ronald E. Grant and Diana Ruso, in Pomona, NY, and Stony Point, NY. During the 1970’s and 1980’s, Teena was an active member of Saint Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in West Nyack, NY, and was the creator of the “famous” AHEPA Talent Shows. Teena, a naturally gifted performer, also shared her talents at the Elmwood Playhouse in Nyack, NY. Her comedic timing lit up the stage and created many unforgettable leading lady and supporting cast member performances.
Eventually relocating to Mahwah, NJ, in the early 2000s, Teena and Ron became beloved members of Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Wykoff, NJ. With her warm embrace of everyone and anyone, Teena immediately established herself as the leading lady of welcoming newcomers into the church community. She also ran the Saint Nicholas Charity Golf Classic for a decade, ensuring this philanthropic event was a huge success.
Teena’s greatest pride was her children and her grandchildren, and she reveled in all their accomplishments. She also maintained close bonds with countless dear friends whom she loved as much as her family. No one could organize an event, a dinner, or a gathering like Teena, who loved spending time with family and friends at every opportunity.
Teena is survived by her son Ron (and wife Ashley) Grant, her daughter Diana (and her husband Brian) Ruso, her brother John Glover and loving cousins Elaine Donohue, Jamie Glover, Steven Glover and Carol Ossi. She leaves six grandchildren: Nicholas, Katherine, and Jack Ruso; and Thomas, James, and Emily Grant.
