It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved and cherished father Clark.
Clark H. Parkhurst the third passed away at the age of 64 on Monday, December 23rd peacefully at his home in Hawthorne after courageously battling a long on going medical condition.
Clark was born on October 7, 1960 to loving and devoted parents Janet and Clark H. Parkhurst Jr. Clark grew up within a close knitted family alongside his older brother Todd Parkhurst in Wyckoff.
He spent his younger years religiously tinkering in the garage alongside his father and brother, spending Saturday nights at the stock car races and avidly racing the same go karts they had built together.
After graduating from Bergen Technical School in 1978 with a focus in masonry, Clark married his long time childhood sweetheart Susan Tanis, also of Wyckoff. They went on to be married 25 beautiful years and share two children, Jessica and Clark Parkhurst.
Clark ventured out and decided to go into the family business, owning and operating his own successful catering route, JP’s Catering, an extension of Spotless Catering Inc. owned by Susan’s parents, John and Mary Tanis.
He was an extremely hard worker, dedicated and determined to provide for his family, giving them the life they deserved. His family always meant more to him than anything else in this world and he was unendingly proud of the life he had built.
Clark enjoyed spending his summers on his boat up on Greenwood Lake, family vacations in Aruba, summers down the shore with his parents, taking his children out for rides in his T-Bucket, planning weekend bike runs on his Harley and above anything else, spending time and creating unforgettable memories with his family and closest friends.
Everyone who knew Clark, knew his generosity and his heart. He lived everyday with positivity and determination while remaining humble, loving and kind. He is survived by his two loving children Jessica and Clark Parkhurst, his brother Todd Parkhurst, his former wife Susan Tanis, his many nieces, nephews and cousins and many devoted friends.
Daddy, you will be missed immensely. We find comfort in knowing that your legacy will live on through the lessons you taught us, the love you shared and the memories we will cherish forever.
The Parkhurst family will receive friends on Friday, December 27, 4:00 util 7:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Funeral mass will be Saturday, December 28, 9:30 AM at St. Anthony's RC Church, 276 Diamond Bridge Ave., Hawthorne. Interment will follow in the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
