Colleen Stanton, 65 of Wyckoff, died peacefully Saturday after a short struggle with lung cancer.
Colleen was born in Evanston, Illinois on June 25, 1959. She moved several times in her first years, collecting siblings along the way.
The Stantons eventually settled in Wyckoff, NJ in 1968. Colleen spent the rest of her childhood there.
She graduated from Seton Hall University in 1981 with a degree in English. She worked in marketing for Haagen Dazs Ice Cream for 15 years. After the company’s move to MN, Colleen began her 25 year career in the medical publication and education field.
Colleen is survived by her sisters Ellen Farley of Waldwick and Maura Bonner of Westfield; her brothers-in-law Sean Farley and Brian Bonner; her cherished nieces Tara Bonner of Brooklyn, NY and Erin Bonner of Westfield, her precious nephew Michael Bonner of Westfield; her aunt and uncle Tom & Kay Lamb of Monroe, NY and a spectrum of spectacular cousins. Not to mention the dearest friends who became family.
Colleen is predeceased by her brother Michael and her parents, Patty and Jack Stanton.
Colleen’s quiet thoughtfulness and humble generosity was unparalleled. Her quick wit and her ability to make others feel at ease, were gifts that she spread her whole life. A being who was the definition of beauty inside and out. She loved Broadway, books, traveling, movies, Bruce, Maine and her FAMILY, the very most of all.
Visiting will be held on Wednesday, June 11 from 4-8 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 12 at 10 am at St. Elizabeth’s RC Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave, Wyckoff.
