Deidre Anne Galvin, 82, died peacefully in Paramus on March 6th, 2025. Deidre was born on January 8th, 1943 in New York City, daughter of George and Ida Connelly. She was the 2nd of their four children. She is preceded in death by her sister, Mary, and is survived by her older brother George, and her younger brother, John, her sons, George and John, their wives Beth and Mary, and her four grandchildren Natalie, Rylee, Sean, and John junior.
Deidre loved God, family, friends and truly cared for all people. She was eternally optimistic. For more than 20 years, she used this superpower to teach high school kids Biology. Deidre was uncompromisingly positive, and she influenced countless lives over the course of her life. She loved nature, and especially enjoyed summers in Maine. Later she was a dedicated member of a Bible study group and would often rush to finish the required reading. She was a devoted patriot, seamlessly weaving the essence of Americana into her home and every facet of her life. Deidre has a Bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s University and a Master’s degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She retired from Ridgewood High School in 2003.
Visiting Hours are scheduled for Wednesday March 12th 3-6PM at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff New Jersey. The Funeral Mass will be the following day 10AM Thursday March, 13th at the Church of Nativity, 315 Prospect Street Midland Park, New Jersey.
