Dolores Buchanan

BUCHANAN, Dolores, “De” (Dostal), age 79, resident of Tom’s River for 18 years, formerly of Waldwick, NJ passed away Monday, November 8, 2021.  She was a graduate of Oxford High School, Iowa and The Personnel Training Institute in Omaha, NE.  She married in 1962, had 4 children, then divorced.  De worked for a number of years at Hudson City Savings Bank, then went on to become a highly successful sales executive at Radian Corp. for 20 years.  In retirement, she volunteered in her community, Silver Ridge West, through involvement in the election , bylaws and ADR committees, the entertainment committee, the Women’s Club and the Signpost.  De played cards weekly with her many friends there, and also enjoyed playing , and teaching others to play, Mahjong.  She loved gathering with her family for holidays and spoiling her grandchildren!  Some of the most cherished memories were made during the annual week-long Jersey Shore trip.  She was predeceased by her brother Vernon and sister Marguerite. De is survived by her sister Phyllis; her children Vincent, Kimberley, Michelene and Michael; son-in-law Peter; daughter-in-law Christine; partner-in-law Jon; grandchildren Nicole, Jeffrey, Ryan and Meghan; and great-grandchild Desmond.  There will be a private memorial service for the immediate family in December.  Donations in her honor can be made to the American Cancer Society.
