Donald E. Van Dongen

Donald E. Van Dongen age 88 died peacefully on Friday, July 22, 2022. Born in Passaic, Don lived in Clifton, Hawthorne and Wyckoff before moving to Nazareth, PA in 1989. He attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI. before working for Okonite Cable Co., New Era Co. and eventually the Dixie Division of American Can Co. and the James River Corp.

Don was an avid reader and woodworking was his favorite hobby. He loved to sing and sang in the church and Cathedral Choirs.  His second home in Harpswell ME was his happy place. He was a member of the Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff and attended Grace Bible Fellowship Church in Nazareth, PA and West Harpswell Baptist Church.

Surviving are his devoted daughters, Linda Steiginga, Carol and her husband Alan Hoeksema and Nancy and her husband Roger Tuit. Don also leaves six grandchildren, Jennifer and Mark Anema, Katie and Jeff Sonnema, Philip and Lindsey Tuit, Jacob and Jill Tuit, Esther and Matthew Lucas and Micah and Beth Hoeksema and nine great grandchildren, Luke, Hailey, Brendan, Adam, Brandon, Aiden, Madison, Emma and Sadie. He was pre-deceased by his wife Angie (nee Orbeck) and his son-in law, Harold Steiginga.

Funeral services will be private at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Interment will be in the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
