Donald L Crowley Obituary

Donald L. Crowley passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on February 7, 2024 at his home in Wayne, NJ, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Born in New York City in 1942, Don resided in Wyckoff and then Wayne, NJ for most of his life. He received his B.A. degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA, and a Juris Doctor degree from Seton Hall University in 1975.  Don’s legal career spanned over forty years, and he was certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Civil Trial Attorney, primarily defending manufacturers in product liability lawsuits. He was a partner in several firms over the years, including Senior Partner in his own firm. He was voted as a New Jersey Super Lawyer (top 5%) by his peers on multiple occasions.

An avid golfer, Don played on his high school and college teams. He was a long-time member of Upper Montclair Country Club in Clifton, NJ, where he was a Trustee and Golf Committee Chairman, introducing several innovations to the club. He was also a member and resident of Cedar Hammock Country Club in Naples, FL. In many years, as he approached retirement, he managed to play over 200 times a season. He was also an avid runner, completing a marathon and several half-marathons.

Don was a dedicated parishioner at St. Elizabeth R.C. Church in Wyckoff, NJ, and Our Lady of Consolation in Wayne, NJ where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector.

Don was above all a family man, and will be remembered with deep love and gratitude for his devotion to his wife Mary Anne, the fairest of them all. He was a heroic and loving role model for his three devoted children and nine beautiful grandchildren. These include Leslie Crowley, mother of Noah, Jacob, and Gabriel; Lauren and her husband John DeKorte, parents of Julia, Jack, and Ryan; and Michael and his wife Eileen, parents of Michael, Natalie, and Sarah. Don’s dry sense of humor, strong work ethic, and commitment to his family, the Catholic Church, and the practice of law will never be forgotten.  Don is also survived by his brother David and his spouse, Mary; his sisters, Maryann and her spouse Kenneth, and Marilyn; and his sister-in-law Kathleen Crowley.

He is preceded in death by his sister Maureen, his brother Richard, and his parents, Richard, and Helen (Lancaster) Crowley.
