Edna W. (DeVries) Smith

Smith (nee De Vries), Edna Wilma, age 101 of North Haledon, NJ went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 28, 2023.  Edna was born in Paterson, NJ, she lived in Midland Park before moving to North Haledon.  Edna was a charter member of Irving Park CRC in Midland Park, before becoming a member of Cedar Hill CRC in Wyckoff.  She also volunteered at the Midland Park Valley Hospital auxiliary for many years at Kurth Cottage. 

Edna was predeceased by her husband Garret “Chip” and her son Garret “Chip Jr.”  Surviving are her 3 sons and their wives, Don and Ruth Smith of Clemmons, NC, George and Susan Smith of Oakland, NJ and Dave and Joyce Smith of Grantham, NH, as well as her 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.  Edna was known for her signature smile and the love of putting others always above herself.  Heaven’s gain is our loss and she will be greatly missed!

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 3 from 4:00 until 7:00pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ  07481.  The funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 4, 10:00am, also at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
