Edward “Ed” Komsa Jr. was called home to God on April 10, 2024. Edward was the devoted husband of Jacqueline Komsa (Ceccarelli), with whom he shared the deepest love since high school, marrying in 1976. Their love blossomed into a family when they welcomed their first daughter, Christina, followed by two additional blessings, Lauren and Matthew. As a husband, father, and grandfather, Ed was a beacon of love and support. His grandchildren, Alexis, Ryan, Helena, and Charlotte, adored their “Poppy,” a title he wore with great pride. Ed’s unwavering adoration for his grandkids was matched only by his joy in their achievements and milestones.
A man of profound faith, Ed believed in God’s plan for him and his loved ones, navigating life with a trusting heart. Ed was a respected electrical contractor for over 45 years. There was nothing he couldn’t fix, and his customers adored him for not only his professionalism but his warm, caring personality. Ed’s favorite thing in life was spending time with his family. He also loved traveling, nature, summertime in his pool, and family dinners.
Ed was extremely proud of his three children. He and his son Matthew were best friends and shared a love of sports and classic rock music. His daughters Christina and Lauren held a special place in his heart by embodying the values he cherished most. Whether through their achievements, their creation of loving families or the simple joys they brought into his life, Christina and Lauren were sources of immense happiness for Ed. He cherished his relationship with his son-in-laws, Kevin (Christina) and John (Lauren). He also leaves behind his sister, Francene, with whom he shared a lifelong connection.
Most of all, Ed adored his wife Jacqueline, who was by his side through thick and thin, sickness and health since they were 17 years old. Their journey together from teenage sweethearts to life partners exemplified a true love story. In Jackie, Ed found not only a wife but a true companion. She shared his dreams, matched his love of family, and provided strength and compassion. Their love, deeply rooted in mutual respect, understanding, and commitment will forever guide their family.
Ed's legacy is one of love, dedication, and happiness. His loss leaves a hole in the heart of his family and he will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He has now rejoined his parents, Edward Sr. and Josephine, his in-laws, Eugene and Jacqueline Ceccarelli, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins in eternal happiness. Ed’s life will be celebrated at a funeral mass at St. Elizabeth’s in Wyckoff on Friday, April 26 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to David’s Dream & Believe Cancer Foundation (“DDBCF”), 102 East Bay Avenue, Suite A Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
