Elizabeth Chicherchia Obituary

Elizabeth Chicherchia, 87, of Waldwick, NJ—formerly of Suffern, NY—peacefully returned home Tuesday, July 29, 2025, surrounded by love and grace.

She was reunited in eternal peace with her beloved husband, Anthony (Poppy), her loving parents, her admired sister, Anita DePietro, her cherished grandson Robert, and her dearest friend Rosie who preceded her in death. She is survived by her adored brother, Benedict Depietro, his wife Vivian and many nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth’s life was a tapestry of devotion and strength. She wore many titles with great pride: daughter, sister, cousin, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother (GG), and loyal friend.

Each role she embraced with unwavering love, leaving behind a legacy built on her strong faith, resilience, and unconditional care.

She was the embodiment of true elegance—always impeccably dressed, with flawless hair and nails that reflected her vibrant spirit. But it was her heart that truly shined. Elizabeth believed in the value of tradition, the importance of family, and the joy found in celebrating others’ victories. Showing up was never optional, it was her promise.

Her final moments were spent in the embrace of her greatest treasures: her devoted children Jean, Frank, and Donna. Her loving sons-in-law Bob and Charlie, and her caring daughter-in-law Jill. She was surrounded by her grandchildren—Melissa and husband Pat, Chelsea and husband Matt, CJ and girlfriend Madison, Alexandra and husband Anthony, Anthony and wife Robin, Francesca and boyfriend Joe, Kristyn and husband Ryan, and Diana—and her eight great-grandchildren—Ryan, Hattie, Joseph, Harper, Skylar, Bryson, Stella, and Frankie, each a reflection of the powerful love she poured into the world.

Elizabeth’s legacy is not just in the lives she touched, but in the way she made people feel: seen, cherished, and deeply loved. A few times a year she would enjoy an afternoon trying her luck on the slot machines, yet she always knew she had already won the jackpot of life. Elizabeth’s family will use the example she set with Poppy’s memory to make her proud and celebrate her life and lessons daily.

Her gentle spirit will continue to guide us, reminding us to show up, celebrate one another, and live with grace. She lived a beautiful life and in the words of Frank Sinatra she did it “My Way”.
