Ellen "Trudie" Gertrude (Becker) Zegel

Ellen (Trudie) Zegel (nee Becker) passed away peacefully on October 30, 2023 at the age of 91, under the care of the nursing staff at the Holland Christian Home in North Haledon, NJ. Trudie was predeceased by her husband Raymond and her daughter Patti. Trudie was a resident of Wyckoff with her husband Ray for over 60 years and an active member of the Wyckoff Reformed Church during that time. She is survived by her brothers Frank and Marty Becker, and sister Ruth Hoffner, children Nancy Mattera and her husband Jerry, and Bob Zegel and his wife Victoria, and three grandchildren Michael Mattera and his wife Yen, and Emily and Joshua Zegel. 

Trudie lived an active life in the community before she fell ill of Alzheimer’s more than 10 years ago. She will be remembered for her generosity in the community, her devotion to her late daughter Patti and her interest and love of her family.

Heaven’s gain is our loss and she will be greatly missed!

The Zegel family will receive friends on Friday, November 3, 9:00 until 11:00 AM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. Funeral services will follow at 12 noon at the Wyckoff Reformed Church, 580 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff. Interment will be in the Wyckoff Reformed Church Cemetery.
