Emanuele Capozzi, age 91, passed peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2024. Emanuele was born April 13, 1932 in Chianchetelle, Providence of Avellino, Italy to Egidio Capozzi and Giovanna Costanza, both deceased.
Preceded in death by his loving wife Emilia Ranaudo Capozzi as well as his three sisters, Ecla, Flora, and Maria. He is survived by his daughter Giovanna Iapicca and son-in- law Alfonso, grandsons Gerard and Marco. He is survived by his son Egidio and daughter-in-law Barbara , grandchildren Joseph, Christopher and Stephanie. He is survived by son Rick and daughter-in-law Barbara, grandchildren Bianca and Emilia. He is also survived by his great- grandchildren Kayla, Antonio, Angelo and Luca. As well as all his beautiful, caring nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends that filled his life with joy, shared meals and love.
Emanuele served in the Italian army and was a mason contractor throughout his life. In his early years he was a mason in Benevento Italy. He and his wife Emilia and three children made the voyage to the United States from Italy on the ship Raffaello in 1969 to become immigrated and build a beautiful future for his family. Emanuele always held roots in Italy and would return yearly to their beautiful home in Chianchetelle overlooking vineyards with his wife Emilia to visit family and friends. Emanuele worked as a mason as well as a Forman for Marlanga construction in the United States for the majority of his career.
Emamuele was married to Emilia in May 1952. They shared their life together until her passing in 1997.
Emanuele loved family get togethers, playing cards and enjoyed playing bocce.
The family will receive friends from 3 – 6 pm on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at the St. Elizabeth Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
