Emerson “Enrique” Sangama, 73, beloved father, grandfather, husband, neighbor, uncle, and friend, passed away on March 15 th , 2021. Emerson dedicated his life to family unity; after losing both parents by his late teens, he took great pride in reuniting and raising his younger siblings. Always a leader and a caregiver at heart, his passion in life was sharing good times and making memories with friends and loved ones. An avid lover of music, dance, amazing food and drink, Emerson knew how to enjoy the best things in life. Although not the best bartender in the world, he was the best host by far, you could always count on him for a great time.
Emerson met the love of his life, Elsa, in 1971, and together led a life of absolute joy and understanding. Who am I kidding? They bickered like cats and dogs, but behind every complaint and argument, their love shined strong and pure. March 17 th , 2021 marked 48 years of marriage. He had the blessing of watching his children grow, marry, and add wonderful grandchildren to the bunch, although not necessarily in that order, haha. Always his grandsons’ number 1 fan, no soccer game or wrestling match was ever missed.
With an unparalleled work ethic, he showed an entrepreneurship spirit in his homeland Peru, opening and running a photo studio and bar, among other ventures. For Emerson there was no such thing as “free time”, and he didn’t know what it meant to “veg out” on the sofa. On any given day you could find him gardening, doing yardwork, updating his home, or barbecuing on the grill. He was unapologetically true to his principles and led his life with dignity.
Emerson is survived by loving wife, Elsa Sangama, son Enrique Sangama and his wife Leslie Sangama, his daughter Roxana Sangama and her husband Willis Jones, grandsons Jordan Mora and Antonio Sangama. Surviving siblings: Felipe Sangama, Diomedes Sangama, Liliana Sangama, Luzmila Osorio, Julian Sangama, and Flor Cardenas. He is greatly missed, but his presence is strong and will forever endure in our hearts.
Until we meet again, take care my love.
