Ethel De See
February 16, 1931 ~ June 15, 2026
Ethel De See, 95 was called home to her faithful Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, June 15, 2026. She was born in Wyckoff, New Jersey on February 16, 1931 to Lambert and Jessie
(Stienstra) Petzinger, and sister to Lillian Fuller (1925-2018).
She was a graduate of Eastern Academy, and Paterson General Hospital School of Nursing. On February 16, 1952 she married Peter De See, and together they built a life centered on faith and family. She was an active member of Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff.
She was a devoted "Mom" to four children:
Lois (Henry) Schuurman of Hawthorne, NJ;
Steven (Jerrilynn) De See of Bernardsville, NJ;
Jan De See of Prospect Park, NJ;
Tom (Diane) De See of Leland, NC ...
She was "Mama" to 6 grandchildren:
Liesl (Rick) Botbyl, Kate (Adam) Culp, Jill (Jason) Formicola;Zachary De See (and fiance Mary Ando), Maxwell De See; and Devin De See ...
And "Mama" to 7 great grandchildren:
Greta Botbyl, Elizabeth (Connor) Phillips, Alex, Hudson, and Jonas Culp; Grace and Josiah Formicola ...
She was lovingly called "Aunt" to many, and a dear friend to all.
Ethel invested deeply in the lives of her family and friends, always eager to encourage others and share stories of God's faithfulness. She created a home filled with warmth, hospitality, grace, laughter, and fun--ensuring all felt loved and valued. Following the loss of her husband Peter on July 14, 1989, she continued to touch lives with her quiet wisdom, compassionate heart, great humor, and passionate curiosity for all of God's vast creation.
The De See Family will receive friends on Monday, July 6, 2026 2:30 - 4:30 PM at the Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church, 422 Cedar Hill Ave, Wyckoff, NJ followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 4:30 PM.
