Grelle, Eugene Frederick, age 89, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021. Eugene was a life-long resident of Wyckoff, born July 7, 1931 to Elizabeth and Frederick Grelle . Eugene graduated Ramsey High School in 1949 and worked as the manager of Fred’s Confectionery in Wyckoff until he joined the army in 1951. He served in Germany with the medical corps from 1951 to 1954. After his honorable discharge, he became a member of the Wyckoff Police Department, retiring in 1980 with the rank of lieutenant. He then worked for Sicomac Carriers and later as the Court Administrator for the cities Wyckoff and HoHoKus, and he also loved working part-time for President Nixon’s personal house security in Saddle River. Eugene was predeceased by his wife, Nancy (nee Reeve) and grandson Zachary Douglas Grelle. He is survived by his daughter Diane Grelle of Ramsey (Norman Levine), his son David Grelle of Lincoln Park, his daughter Joanne Porco (Frank) of Lincoln Park, his son, Douglas Grelle of Reading, PA, and his grandsons, Christopher and Michael Polonkay of Garfield. Eugene loved reading, playing golf, playing the slot machines, and watching Star Trek and all military movies. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 9, at 10:00 at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Wyckoff, followed by Mass at 11:00. Burial will be at George Washington Cemetery in Paramus. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
