Eugene John Motta passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 88 in Allendale, NJ. Eugene
was born in Teaneck, NJ on June 2nd, 1936, the son of Giovanni Motta and Mary Pederoda. He
was raised in Fairview, NJ by his father, mother, and older sister and assisted his father with
running their family store. With a passion for teaching, Eugene later earned his Master of
Education and worked for the Englewood Cliffs Board of Education until his retirement in 1996.
He was an avid fan of sports and his favorite teams: the New York Yankees and New York Giants.
Following his retirement, Eugene enjoyed vacation trips overseas to Europe, and in his free time
greatly enjoyed reading murder mystery novels. He is survived by his large and loving family: his
wife Barbara Motta, sons Chris and Greg Motta, daughter-in-law Beth Motta, sister Flo Riske,
grandson Jonathan Motta, grandchild River Koch, niece Maria Stingone, nephew Frank Riske,
great-nieces Jenna Stingone and Arianna Riske, and great-nephews Michael Stingone and
Brendan Riske. Eugene was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He loved to cook for his
many friends, family, and neighbors traditional northern Italian food. He will be considerably
missed by everyone who knew him.

Funeral Mass: Monday, November 4th, St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church, Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ at 11

Internment will be private at a later date.
