Florence Degelman

Florence (Belanus) Degelman passed into the hands of her Savior on 4/26/2026. She was born in Saddle River, NJ on 12/14/1933 the fifth of six children. Her family moved to Midland Park, NJ when she was ten. She met and married Andrew Degelman in 1956 and they eventually purchased a home in Wyckoff, NJ where they resided for over sixty years. Florence moved with her husband to West Milford in 2024.

Florence held several different jobs over the years: Emmanuel church secretary, Western Union and AT&T but her favorite ones were being a mom, grandma and great-grandma. She loved to crochet, spend time with friends and find bargains which she often purchased for others.

A faithful woman, Florence was a continually active and long-time member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ridgewood, NJ. She also enjoyed spending time at the Wyckoff Seniors, of which she was a member, until moving in 2024 and with the women in her crochet club.

She will be remembered for her smile, the joy she spread, her genuine concern for the needs of others and always being available to help provide comfort and support.

Florence was the loving mom of Scott (Mary) Degelman, Glenn (Janet) Degelman, Lisa (Paul) Donzelli and Craig (Veronica) Degelman. She cherished her grandchildren: Scott (Katie) Degelman, Tim Degelman, Laura (Ed) Kay, Christy (Bobby) Nisbet, Amy (Parker) Henshaw, Ana (Joe) Beaulieu, Kathryn Degelman (Justin White), Eddy Coutinho, Nicole Degelman and Niana Degelman and was richly blessed with 12 great-grandchildren: Sophia, Charlie, Finley, Asher, Ryder, Kayla, and Gianna; Jake, Emma, Joshua, and Gideon; Gabriel. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, all her siblings and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday May 30, 2026, 11am at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 14 Hope Street Ridgewood, NJ 07450. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Florence may be made to the church emmanuelridgewood.org
