Franklin J Grieder

Franklin J. Grieder, 92, of Ho Ho Kus, NJ, passed away at home on April 16, 2021. Frank worked as Superintendent for the Borough of Allendale in the Water & Sewer Department for many years, before retiring in 1991. During his time with the Water Department, Franklin spent time as President of the Bergen County Public Works Administration Association, as well as, American Water Works Association of NJ. Franklin also began his career as a Volunteer Firefighter in Ho Ho Kus in 1952 where he moved up the ranks in the department and was made Chief of the Ho Ho Kus Fire Volunteer Department in 1968 and 1969, and he continued to serve the department faithfully and retiring in 2020 while working on the Fire Desk. Frank also served as Chairman or the Ho Ho Kus Shade Tree Commission for many years, and was made Chairman Emeritus upon his retirement. Frank also proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was also a proud member of the Ramsey Duffers.

Franklin is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Lillian Grieder, and daughter, Darian Logan. Franklin will be missed by his grandchildren, Dave, Scott (Brande), Charlie (Rachel), and Heather, and his great grandchildren Cadence, Lily, Violet, and Montgomery. Franklin was predeceased by his first wife, Doris, and his second wife, Eleanor, and his sister Shirley, and brother-in-law, Fred.  Frank also leaves behind his stepchildren, David Kievit and Susan Greig, step-grandchildren Charles (Selena), Ian, Amy, Brian, and Matthew, as well as his step-great grandchildren, Eadion & Daniella.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 3-7pm at Vander Plaat Funeral Home of Wyckoff, 257 Godwin Ave, Wyckoff, NJ 07481 with a Fireman’s Service beginning at 7pm. A funeral service will be on Thursday at 12pm at Vander Plaat Funeral Home followed by a Fireman Procession of Vehicles to George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ho Ho Kus Fire Volunteer Department, 52 Sheridan Ave, Ho Ho Kus, NJ 07423
