Frederick Schmerling, aged 98, of Wyckoff, NJ, passed away on Sunday August 24th, 2025, surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Born and raised in Manhattan, NY, and moved to Wyckoff after he got married to his wife Ingrid, and where he lived for over sixty years and raised two children, Kirsten and Kristopher.
He was a great commercial artist, designed several products (some of which are still on the market today). He loved camping, built his own boat, he loved the outdoors, did some gardening. He loved a good movie and a good meal and a glass of great wine. He also did a lot of volunteer work for the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation for several years and he was immensely proud of this work.
He was a proud member of the armed forces.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ingrid and his children Kirsten and Kristopher, and his daughter in law, Ashley and son in law, Bill and five grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
He was predeceased by his brothers Norman and John and his sister Doris.
He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Frederick’s memory can be made to the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation.
