Frederick F. McCarthy of Ridgewood, NJ lost his courageous battle with cancer on September 22, 2022 at the age of 76. Born to the late Frederick Francis and Mildred May (Heckel), "Fred" grew up in Radburn, graduated from Fair Lawn High School and Farleigh Dickinson University, served in the U.S. Army inVietnam, and then had a long and successful career at Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City. He spent his retirement enjoying gardening, classic and folk rock, and laughing with friends and family. Fred loved Ridgewoodand cherished the fact that his three sons and daughters-in-law returned to the area to raise his eight beautiful grandchildren Emma, Jack, Ryan, Thomas, Molly, Ellie, Bruce, and Teddy, by whom he will be dearly missed on and off the sidelines. Fred was proceeded in death by his sister Elizabeth "Betty" Ramunda and is survived by his wife Patricia "Pat" of 53 years, sister Claire of Greenwich Village, NY, and his three sons Tim (Martina) of Ridgewood, NJ, Chris (Elizabeth) of Ridgewood, NJ, and Michael (Lynn) of Allendale, NJ.
Relatives and friends are invited to come celebrate Fred's life at the VanderPlaat Funeral Home at 257 Godwin Avenue in Wyckoff, NJ from 5-8 PM on Monday, September 26th. On Tuesday, September 27th, following a mass at 9:30 AM at Church of the Nativity located at 315 Prospect Street in Midland Park, NJ, burial services will be held at Valleau Cemetery in Ridgewood, New Jersey.
