Gardiner Thomas Kenyon of Wyckoff, known to many as "Ken Kenyon" or "Gardy" passed away on September 27, 2021 at the age of 92.
Gardy grew up in Bristol, Vermont. He was born on July 23, 1929 to the late Harold and Ellen (Varney) Kenyon and was one of five children. He married the love of his life, Angela Lombardi Kenyon, on June 7, 1952, sharing 69 years of marriage together.
Gardy spent his childhood years fishing on Bristol Pond and later in life turned into an avid fisherman, enjoying the sport on Greenwood Lake & fishing trips to Vermont and Canada. Gardy enjoyed spending time with his family, especially on holidays. He is fondly remembered celebrating the Feast of the Seven Fishes, frying fish every Christmas Eve. He was a loyal employee of Amoco Oil for 35 years and a parishioner and usher at St. Elizabeth's Church; a member and past president of the Wyckoff Senior Citizens; a member of the Midland Park American Legion. Most of all, he served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp.
Surviving are his devoted children, Mark and his wife Camille, Doug and his wife Vicki, Caryl and her husband Bill Romeo and Gregg. He leaves his nine cherished grandchildren, Shane and his wife Brittany; Brandon and his wife Joanna, Brett and Brittany; Matthew Romeo and his wife Tiffany, Amanda Romeo and her husband Charley and Jonathan Romeo; Nicole and Tyler and his wife Shawna. He was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Waylon Richard Romeo, Lucas John Kenyon, Lia Rae Kenyon. He also leaves his loving brother-in-law and sister-inlaw Nick and Lois Ciampo and their children Michael, Lisa, and John; his brother Bud and sister Mary and her husband Richard Bergling. He is also survived by his most loving caregiver, Julie. As a true family man, he leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family and close friends. Gardy is predeceased by his wife Angela, who passed on July 11, 2021, and his siblings John and Maggie.
The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, October 2 from 9:30 to 11:30 am at the Vander Plaat Funeral home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff. A funeral mass celebrating Gardy's life will follow at 12:00 pm at St. Elizabeth's RC Church, 700 Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff. The funeral mass will be livestreamed by the church for those that wish to celebrate Gardy's life virtually at saintelizabeths.org
