Gary Frank Massar

Gary Frank Massar, age 76, of Leesburg, Virginia, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. A New Jersey native, Gary was born in Jersey City, spent his childhood in Guttenberg, and his teenage years in Oradell, where he graduated from River Dell High School. He then went on to get his Bachelor of Science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Gary returned to Oradell to raise his family where he had many friends and neighbors. After the death of his wife, Pauline Massar, he relocated to Virginia in 2013 to be closer to his children. Gary was devoted to his family. He had a natural talent for solving problems and outstanding technical skills which were utilized during his service in the U.S. Air Force as a Jet Engine Mechanic, and over 45 years with Sears as a Service Technician. Gary was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and Loyal Order of the Moose. Surviving are his loving children, Christopher (Catherine) Massar of Leesburg, Virginia and Diana (Peter) Welsh of Davenport, Florida, his brother, Frank Massar, of Antelope, California, and two grandchildren, Murdoch and Arabelle. A burial service will be held Saturday, March 11th 11:30 AM at St. Luke’s Cemetery, 300 Franklin Tpk., Ho-Ho-Kus. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society www.lls.org.
