Gary Zern

Gary Zern, 58 of Wyckoff, died peacefully surrounded at home by his loving family on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.  Gary was a lifelong resident of Wyckoff.  He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Casey, his son Jude and daughters Prudence and Layla.  Gary is also survived by his mother, Ruthann Zern, his brother, Chuck (Geril) Zern and his four sisters; Ruthann (David Mold) Zern, Debby (Andrew) DeMaio, Cheryl (Joe) Doughan, Tracy (Chad) Barry and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.  Gary was predeceased by his father, Charles Zern in 1996.  Family meant everything to Gary and he was a cherished friend to many.  Gary played Rugby for many years specifically with Kutztown University and Bergen Rugby.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 14th from 3:00-7:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home,  www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ.  A private cremation will be held.  As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Gary’s memory should be made to the Gary Zern Family Education Fund Trust, mailed to Casey Zern, 145 Crescent Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481 or donations can be sent via zelle to casey.curcio@gmail.com.
