Gene W. Britton, 62, of Midland Park, New Jersey, passed away Friday, June 10th, 2022 at his home.
Gene was born in Passaic, New Jersey on February 7th, 1960 to Joan and Leonard Earl Britton. His
family moved to Passaic in 1965, where he graduated from Passaic High School in 1978. He entered
the U.S. Navy December 14th, 1978, where he served a four year term as a boiler technician. Gene
worked on the ship’s propulsion, or engines, aboard the USS La Salle. The La Salle was permanently
stationed in Bahrain. He received an honorable discharge on December 18th, 1982. He met his wife,
Joanne, in 1992 through his job at Bendheim, where he worked for almost thirty years. The two
married on October 1st, 1994. Together, they welcomed two daughters, Christine and Samantha.
Gene was unlike any individual. No words could amount to how genuine and down to earth he was.
His kindness to others was handmade, catering to those around him that he loved. He was selfless, a
safe space to those who entered his vicinity. He was a listener. Gene was also always willing to lend
a helpful hand — caring for both his neighbors and friends. He found happiness in working hard,
providing for others.
What Gene loved was the time he spent with his family. He showed his love through hugs and ‘wet’
kisses, no hesitation to tell the people around him that he loved them.
An avid fisherman, carpenter, lover of crossword puzzles. Someone who loved animals, especially
ducks, who collected Hess toy trucks.
Survivors include his wife; his three daughters; his son; his son-in-law; his three brothers, twin Roy
and Maria Britton, Michael and Darlene Britton, and Richard Britton; his three sisters, Susan and
Stephen Frye, Sharon Donetz, and Patricia and Luigi Taranto; his grandchildren; as well as many
beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joan and Leonard Earl Britton.
The Britton Family gives their sincere thanks to all who stood by them in Gene’s last years.
