George Kelly, Jr. Obituary

George J. Kelly Jr., 81, of Suffern, NY, passed away on March 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and three devoted daughters.

Born on February 20, 1943, in Philadelphia to George and Helen Kelly, George grew up in a large family as the middle of seven kids. He graduated from La Salle High School and was accepted to the United States Naval Academy. George served as a Naval Submarine Officer until 1967, when he was honorably medically discharged. George's entrepreneurial spirit and keen business acumen led him to create Shamrock Water, a bottled water company he founded long before the industry became the behemoth it is today. Upon George’s retirement, the company was acquired by Deer Park Water, cementing his legacy as a true innovator and savvy businessman.

George was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, known for his infectious sense of humor and his legendary dad jokes. He had a unique ability to create special moments out of everyday situations, like where to get little staples and how the angel actually got on top of the Christmas Tree. In this very moment, he'd likely say, "You're probably wondering why I called you all here together," with a playful grin. George had a special way of making everyone feel cherished and valued. His captivating stories about his submarine adventures were a treasure trove of entertainment for all who had the privilege of knowing him, as he always had the perfect anecdote for any situation.

The love of his life was his wife of 60 years, Helene, whom he affectionately declared to love the "mostest, mostest, mostest." George always surprised her with thoughtful gifts and made sure she always had fresh flowers. His three daughters and five grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment they spent together as a family. When his daughter Chrissy's husband Marc brought his child into the family, George welcomed him with open arms, delighted to have another member join the party.

George will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Helene; his adoring daughters, Franci (Peter), Chrissy (Marc), and Alyson (Eric); his cherished grandchildren, Kelly, Peter, Hannah, Ethan, Ryan, and Ian; his treasured siblings, Helen (Leo), Kathleen (Michael), Mary (Steve), Hank (Kathy), and predeceased Mildred (Jack), and John (Sylvia) as well as all who knew his kind heart and lively spirit. His stories and jokes will echo through the generations as a lasting reminder of his vibrant personality.
