Georgine Hynes

Georgine Hynes, age 85, formerly of Roselle Park, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2025. Born in Elizabeth, NJ, she later lived in Midland Park and most recently in Mahwah.

Georgine was devoted to her family and loved hosting gatherings filled with her signature dishes, laughter, and music. She enjoyed dancing, attending Broadway shows, listening to her son play the drums, and watching her daughter’s ballet performances. She also cherished her travels to England and Scotland, and her many summers visiting Cape Cod and the Kennedy Compound in Hyannis.

She worked for many years as an administrative assistant at BOC Gases, where she was admired for her dedication and kindness. Above all, Georgine was a loving mother whose greatest joy was raising her children.

She is survived by her children, George (Patty) and Patti (Paul); stepchildren, John (Laurie) and Michael (Denise); grandchildren, Nora, Nate, and Katherine; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, James Edward and Mary Elizabeth, and siblings Jim, Kit, Betty, and Tess.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 17, from 4–7 p.m. at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, Wyckoff. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, September 18, at 10 a.m. at Church of the Nativity, Midland Park, followed by interment at Saint Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Georgine's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
