Grainna Jordan-Monteleone

Grainna’s life - lived with Aloha, warmth, grace and a great bit of Craic - ended, as we know it, on the 4th day of July, 2022; her parents wedding anniversary.  From the lush rolling fields of heather and green in Ireland where she was born to Pierce and Gertie (Muckian) Jordan on the 6th day of March, 1956, to the tight Irish neighborhood of St. Nicholas of Tolentine in the Bronx to the majestic mountains, rain forest and pristine blue oceans of Hawaii where she lived for many years, Grainna embraced life beautifully.  It was in Hawaii that she met and married her proud and adoring Marine, Dominic.  She was a devoted friend , loyal neighbor, a steadfast Irish cousin, unwavering daughter, wife, sister and aunt with uncompromising values, unbeaten spirit and loving resolve. She was a faithful member at St. Ann’s and St. Augustine’s.  She was brilliant with IT systems and retired as Systems Analyst from Sause Bros, her second Ohana in Honolulu, Long Beach and Oregon.

She is predeceased by her husband Dominic, her parents and her sister Bridgina. Survivors include her siblings: Mona Monahan and her husband Thomas, Maraid Mukaida and her husband Donald, Nan Alessio and her husband Gordon, Fanchea Jordan,  Frank Jordan and his wife Jin; Her nieces and nephews: Tara, Sheila, Eileen, Bridgina, Sam, Jordan, Henry, Charlie, Thomas, Aria, Lilly & Nathan. 

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 10th, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ.  The funeral mass will be held on Monday, July 11, 2022  at  10:00 AM at Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect Avenue, Midland Park, NJ.  Grainna’s life will be celebrated and remembered from Ireland-NY-CA-Hawaii and beyond, by all those lives she touched- named and unnamed - and those lucky enough to enjoy the Grainna Tour! 

Grainna will be laid to rest at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, CA Tuesday, August 2, at 2pm; procession starts 15 minutes before at 1:45 PM  in lane 1.
Grainna will be buried with Dominic where they will RIP.  Horse and carriage ceremony with bagpiper and priest, songs and prayers.  We will try to post it live.  Connect with the Jordan family at Hilton Hotel San Diego Mission Valley.
