Gwin M. Cook, 78, of Cheshire, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, surrounded by her loving daughters and their families.
Born on November 19, 1947, in Worcester, MA she was the beloved daughter of the late Lucile (Parsons) Osborne and she was predeceased by her brother Christopher. Gwin worked as a coveted office manager for over 30 years and was a longtime Cheshire resident. She treasured the friendships she built while raising her family and carried those bonds with her always. She was also a friend to many beyond that circle, known for her warmth and kindness.
To everyone that knew her she was simply "Mimi", a name that reflected how naturally loved and known she was by so many. Mimi lived life with style, humor, and a lively spirit. A true fashionista, she was always put together and full of personality. She was a vibrant mah jong player, the unofficial head of happy hour, and a familiar face at lunches at Viron Rondo’s. She was known for her chocolate chip cookies, her love of going to shows, and the care she gave to her beautiful flowers. She was the best Christmas gift wrapper, making every gift feel special. She loved her beautifully decorated condo where the table was always set to reflect each holiday and season.
She was classy and elegant, and above all, she was her family’s biggest cheerleader—always encouraging, always proud, and always there. Her daughters were her absolute pride and joy; anyone who knew Mimi knew about Jennifer and Leslie and their families. Even during her time in the hospital, her nail salon and hair stylist were calling to check on her—a small but perfect reflection of how loved and connected she was in her everyday life.
In her final days, Mimi’s goal was to make it back to the Jersey Shore that she loved so much—where she proudly “decorated the beach with her long legs,” capturing her confidence, charm, and sense of fun.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Jennifer Dooling (Ed) and Leslie Lahoud (John); and her cherished grandchildren, Olivia Theroux, Piper Dooling, Nora Dooling, Grace Dooling, Max Lahoud, Cecelia Lahoud, and Alyx Lahoud.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Sunday, May 17, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main Street. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Mimi's life will also be celebrated at a memorial service in New Jersey on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue in Wyckoff. In true Mimi fashion she would have loved everyone to raise a glass of Chardonnay in her honor and celebrate a life well lived.
