Henrietta Bufardeci

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Henrietta Douma Bufardeci. Born January 17, 1936, to her late loving parents, Harry and Jessie Wendelaar Douma.

Henrietta grew up in Paterson, NJ, and graduated from Eastside High School. After graduation, she worked for the N.J. Bell Telephone Company. She liked to watch her favorite show, Jeopardy!, work on puzzles, read, and spend time at the beach. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

On June 9, 1957, she married her high school sweetheart, Carmen A. Bufardeci Sr., and later moved to Midland Park, NJ. There, she became a parishioner of Church of the Nativity, a member of the Northwest Bergen Community Center, and a Cub Scout mother for Troop 157.

Henrietta was predeceased by her devoted husband, Carmen A. Bufardeci. She leaves behind four wonderful children: Carmen A. Bufardeci Jr. and his wife, Ann; Steven; Carol; and Kenneth Bufardeci. She was Granny to six cherished grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Bufardeci; Jessica Tracz and her husband, Michael; John (Jack) Bradt; and Dominic and Joseph Bufardeci. Cherished great-grandmother of Lucy Henrietta Tracz. She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law to Theresa and George Ferrito and Grace DeBoer. She was the beloved sister of the late Ann Douma, Peter Douma, and Gladys Sterzel.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 4pm to 8pm, at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481. A Funeral Mass is planned for Friday at 10am, at the Church of the Nativity, 315 Prospect Street, Midland Park, NJ 07432.

Entombment to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Paterson, NJ.
