Irene Gilchrist

Irene Gilchrist, 93 passed away on September 21st, 2022. She was born on January 6th, 1929 in Jersey City, New Jersey to William and Julia. She was a current resident of Waldwick, New Jersey.  She met her husband Tommy at a young age and were married for 44 loving years before his passing in 1993. They spent their life together in Paramus, New Jersey where they raised their 3 daughters.  Irene worked at Lord and Taylors as a sales associate for 30 years before retiring to spend time with her grandchildren. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends, playing games, and heading to Atlantic City for an evening at the tables. She cherished the time spent with her childhood friends, fondly known as the “Club Girls”.
She was an active member of Our Lady of Visitation Church in Paramus, NJ as well as St. Luke's Church in Waldwick, NJ.
Irene was predeceased by her husband Tommy Gilchrist and her 6 siblings, Mae, Bubby, Dolly, Ella, Doris and Billy, and is survived by her 3 daughters, Irene Watson (Chuck, Deceased),
Kathy Castellani (Kevin) and Christine Noonan (Paul), as well as her 4 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews, who she loved very much.
The family will receive friends on September 25th from 4:00pm-8:00pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on September 26th at 10:30am at St. Luke's Church at 340 N Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho Kus, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks all donations in memory of Irene to be sent to the Waldwick Ambulance Corps at 20 Whites Lane, Waldwick, NJ 07463 and the Christopher Goodell Memorial Foundation on behalf of the Waldwick PBA at 15 E. Prospect Street, Waldwick, NJ 07463.
