Irene Reynolds (née Gilmartin) of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, formerly of Wyckoff, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, March 25th. Born and raised in Flatbush, Brooklyn, Irene was the daughter of Peter Gilmartin and Delia (née Brady) Gilmartin, immigrants from County Sligo, Ireland.A graduate of Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School and Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School, Irene enjoyed a career in administration in NYC before retiring to dedicate herself to raising her five children.
After her children were grown, Irene returned to administrative work with the Wyckoff Board of Education, where she oversaw the town’s school transportation operations. She fondly remembered those years, and cherished the lifelong friendships she made.A devoted wife to her late husband, Kevin Reynolds, Irene was predeceased by her beloved daughter Aileen, her brother Eugene Gilmartin, and son-in-law Tom Feagans.
Irene is survived by her children Kathleen Reynolds, Mary Beth and Craig Davis, Peter and Franci Reynolds, and Allison Reynolds, as well as her beloved grandchildren–Brandon Cohane, Kelly Reynolds, Aidan Cohane, Peter Reynolds Jr. and Michael Davis. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Sue Gilmartin and brother-in-law Farrell Reynolds.
Irene will be forever remembered for her bright smile, endearing sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. A wake will be held on Sunday, March 29, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, in Wyckoff. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 30th at 10:00am at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Ramsey, N.J.
