Jay Cornelius Faber of Midland Park, NJ, entered into his Heavenly home on April 11, 2025. He was born on July 4, 1945, as the youngest of six children, to John II and Tinetta Faber. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Wilma Ozinga, Henrietta Valkema, Gertrude Zylstra, Evert Witte Faber, and John Faber III. He leaves behind his beloved wife Marjorie (Sytsma) of 59 years, and his children Stacy Snapper (husband Russell), John Faber and Jay W. Faber. He had nine grandchildren: Michael Faber (wife Ashlee), Debra (Faber) Jones (husband Steven), Rachael (Snapper) Godley (husband Jason), Lauren Faber, Joshua Snapper, Christopher Faber (wife Betty), Janel Faber, Josiah Snapper, and Jay S. Faber. He also had 6 great grandchildren: Jimmy Faber, Gabe Faber, Skyler Jones, Charlie Faber, Elijah Reich and Hans Godley.
Jay spent his career in the commercial laundry business, first as a general manager for Faber’s Interboro Laundry in Haledon, and later as a sales representative in the BASF Industrial Division. He won several awards as a top producer. At Bethel Christian Reformed Church, and later in Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church, he served as Booster Club president, deacon, elder, merger co-chairman, and church administrator. He appreciated organ music and was part of the church organ renovation project.
He enjoyed doing a variety of woodworking projects. A skilled craftsman, Jay built furniture, serving pieces, game boards, and custom storage for his family and his church. Jay was a handyman who could fix almost anything. He also enjoyed spending his summers at Green Pond with friends and family. He will be remembered for his love for the Lord and his family, his wise advice, and for being a great cook. Jay spent his final years battling recurring cancer and other health issues.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2:00pm at Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church, 422 Cedar Hill Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481.
Gifts may be made in Jay’s memory to Habitat for Humanity of Paterson and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
