Jeanne Mudry

Jeanne Forney Mudry, of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, February 16th, 2026. She was born in Varna, Illinois, and spent her early years in Whitefield and Henry, Illinois. Following her marriage to John, the couple relocated to Washington, D.C., before ultimately moving to New Jersey. They initially established their home in Wyckoff, and later settled in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey.

She graduated from Henry High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Illinois in Chicago, later teaching psychiatric nursing. An avid tennis and skiing enthusiast, she played on the Indian Trail Club's tennis team. She was involved with the PTA, Friends of the Library, Valley Hospital Auxiliary, DAR, and Forum School Fundraising. As a founding member of Wyckoff Grace United Methodist Church, she sang in the choir, played piano and organ, taught Sunday school, and directed the children’s choir.

She played the piano and organ all her life, she was a member of the American Guild of Organist, and supported the northern New Jersey Philharmonic, hosting many events.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Carolyn Jeanne Mudry, Patricia Mudry Hiltke(Eric Hiltke), Kathryn Mudry Watson (Christopher Watson), and John Robert Mudry, as well as her three grandchildren Kristine, Paul and Nickolaus Hiltke, and many extended family members.

She is predeceased by her husband John Paul Mudry, M.D., her parents Roy and Harriet (nee Robbins) Forney and her siblings Beth, Richard, Ruth, Robert and Roger.

The family will receive friends at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home of Wyckoff on Friday February 20th, 2026 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held Saturday February 21st at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church in Wyckoff, NJ.
