Jerrilyn Uelen Obituary

Jerrilyn Uelen was born on November 21, 1939 to Margaret and Thomas Norman and older sister, Margaret. Jerri grew up, married, and raised her family in Wyckoff.  She received her nursing degree from Paterson General Hospital School of Nursing in 1960.  That same year she married the love of her life, William Uelen.  They raised 4 children, Matthew, Christopher, Jerrilyn and William.  After passing her boards, Jerri worked as a registered nurse in the emergency room at Wayne General Hospital for 18 years.  She went on to work in the hospital's clinic in Paterson for 12 years until she retired. Jerri was the first one of her family to receive a bachelor's degree which inspired her children to pursue higher education as well.

Jerri and Bill enjoyed being outdoors. They took drives along the Delaware River to watch for bald eagles.  They joined Crestwood Lake in Allendale to sit in the shade and watch their grandchildren play. They made many new friends at the lake, including the Sunshine Girls and the Shady Ladies as well as the lake staff who helped facilitate the planting of a tree in Bill's memory. These friends were invaluable to Jerri after Bill's passing and they remain so to her family now that Jerri is gone.

Jerri is survived by her four loving children. She passed away on May 5, 2022 at the age of 82 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.  At her request, there will be no funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Wyckoff Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 214, Wyckoff, NJ 07481
