Joan Craviolo

Joan Craviolo, age 88, recently of North Haledon, NJ, with most of her years having spent in Hudson County, earned her eternal reward in heaven on Thursday, August 24, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.  Joan was born in Jersey City, NJ and was a longtime resident of North Bergen and West New York.  Although she moved more recently to Bergen and Passaic County, her heart always remained in Hudson County.  Prior to her retirement at the age of 81, Joan was the Executive Secretary for the Mayor of North Bergen for almost 30 years.  Joan was predeceased by her husband and dancing partner, Edward E. Craviolo.  She is survived by her devoted son and daughter, Edward Craviolo of Ramsey, NJ and Christine Craviolo and her husband, Orlando Quinones of Mahwah, NJ.  Joan is also survived by her brother, Louis Manuppelli of Milford, PA, two step grandchildren, Stephanie and Gabrielle, one step great granddaughter, Harper, and her nieces and nephew, Lisa, Rene’ and Louis, as well as many other loved ones. Joan was also the dedicated  grandmother to countless “furry grandchildren” throughout her lifetime. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home,  www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ  07481.  Prayers will begin at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s RC Church, 200 Wyckoff Avenue, Ramsey, NJ 07446.  The entombment will take place immediately following at Madonna Cemetery, 2070 Hoefley’s Lane, Ft. Lee, NJ 07024.  As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations in Joan’s memory may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 or St. Joseph’s School for the Blind, 761 Summit Avenue, Jersey City, NJ 07307.
